Swipewipe Review 2026: Is It Safe, Free, and Worth It?

Swipewipe is a real app with a real following: 4.7 stars from 84,000 ratings on the US App Store, made by MWM. The free tier works, the swipe idea is good, and the complaints are almost all about one thing.

Here's the honest read on whether it's safe, what it actually costs, and how to get out of the subscription if you're already in it.

Mostly, with one caveat worth understanding before you install it.

Your photos are not on the collected-data list. Swipewipe's App Store privacy label does not declare Photos or Videos as data it collects, so there's no indication your camera roll is being harvested.

But the label does declare tracking. Under Data Used to Track You it lists identifiers, usage data and other data. Under Data Linked to You it lists purchases, identifiers (user ID, device ID), usage data including advertising data, and other data. The stated purposes include third-party advertising and analytics.

That is completely normal for an app funded by ads, and it is not the same thing as uploading your photos. But it is more data collection than a cleaner strictly needs, and it's the difference between "ad-supported" and "on-device, collects nothing."

Some reviewers have also raised questions about wording in the privacy policy around whether pictures may be uploaded. Is Swipewipe free?Link to section

Partly, and more generously than most of the category.

The free tier is genuinely usable. You can swipe through your library without paying, with ads appearing roughly every sixth photo. That's better than the apps that let you scan for free and then charge you before you can delete a single thing.

The catch is a cap. Reviewers report being asked to upgrade after clearing a fairly small batch in one session, which turns a big cleanup into a series of interruptions. So the free tier is fine for a taste of it and frustrating for a ten-year camera roll.

Credit where it's due: an ad-supported free tier that actually deletes photos is more honest than a trial-wall.

There isn't one answer, and that's the confusing part.

The US App Store listing shows around ten different in-app purchase options at the same time, spanning weekly, monthly, yearly and lifetime terms, from roughly a dollar and a half up to about thirty. Which paywall you see depends on your region and on whichever pricing test you land in, which is why no two reviews online quote the same figure.

What is consistent is the reaction. Across user reviews and independent write-ups, the pricing is the number one complaint, with the weekly plans drawing the most anger, mostly because photo cleanup isn't a weekly need. You do it, it's done, and the subscription keeps running.

1. Open your subscription settings

   On iPhone: Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions. On Android: Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.

2. Find Swipewipe in the list

   If it isn't there, you probably subscribed with a different Apple Account or Google account than the one you're signed in with now.

3. Tap Cancel Subscription

   Confirm when asked. You keep Premium until the end of the period you already paid for.

4. Check the confirmation

   The entry should switch from a renewal date to an expiry date. If it still says "renews", it didn't go through.

Yes, but read the developer name before you install.

There is a Swipewipe listing on Google Play, and there are also several other apps on Play with near-identical names published by completely different developers. The names blur together in search results, and a clone gets none of the scrutiny that 84,000 ratings buy you.

Before installing on Android, check the developer name on the listing matches the one on the iOS app you were looking at, and check the ratings count is in the same ballpark. A cleaner with a handful of reviews and a familiar name is the oldest trick in the store.
